IT Service Continuity

What is IT Service Continuity Management (ITSCM)?

ITSCM is a process that enables management to ensure that the organisation’s IT services are adequately protected. The goal of ITSCM is defined in the ITIL v3 Service Design process as:

To support the overall Business Continuity Management process by ensuring that the required IT Technical and service facilities (including computer systems, networks, applications, data repositories, telecommunications, environment, technical support and service desk) can be resumed within required, and agreed, business timescales.

In other words, ITSCM looks at all of the components of an IT Service, considers what would happen if they stopped working and how to resume services in a predictable and dependable manner.
