VEGA commissions survey about data security implications in local government

12 March 2010 – VEGA Consulting Services Ltd (VEGA), a Finmeccanica company, has commissioned a survey with the Local Government Chronicle to measure awareness of data security implications across all local government authorities in England and Wales.

The survey follows the Cabinet Office’s release of the Security Policy Framework (SPF 3.0) in October 2009. The SPF reinforces the doctrine that security risks must be managed effectively, collectively and proportionately, to achieve a secure and confident working environment.

The Framework’s release coincides with 375 English and Welsh local authorities gaining Code of Connection (CoCo) compliance which allows them to access Central Government networks and applications through the Government Connect secure network, GCSX – a programme of work on which VEGA worked closely with the Department of Work and Pensions to successfully deliver.

VEGA’s data security implications survey considers how widely the key elements of the SPF and implications of the GCSX connectivity are understood across local authorities, and the impact may they have on government modernisation and transformation.

The survey takes ten minutes to complete and can be accessed via http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22AA8JH2VRP.
