Bristol Primary Care Trust
VEGA provided independent advice and support to enable one of
England’s Primary Care Trusts to minimise the risk to its
communications infrastructure as it undertook a major relocation
programme.
The Challenge
Bristol Primary Care NHS Trust (PCT) and Avon
IM&T Consortium (AIMTC) needed to relocate its headquarters to
an alternative Bristol office building. This meant that the PCT had
to replace existing data and voice systems and infrastructure.
How is VEGA helping
VEGA was asked to work closely with PCT
executives to produce a Telecommunications Strategy covering all of
the technical, operational and cultural aspects of such a major
change. The strategy also required that VEGA provided the client
with an analysis of the latest technology for voice and data
services at a local level and into the wide area networks, ensuring
that the organisation was equipped and capable of providing its
services efficiently and cost effectively in the long term.
Due to the rapid and dynamic nature of the
developments within the organisation, the preparations for the move
to the new building were moved forward to ensure that the tight
timescales for occupancy of the new location are met. VEGA is now
supporting the accelerated plan with responsibility for the design
specification, procurement and implementation of the complete voice
solution, and for elements of the data solution and the generic
cabling services.

VEGA is helping to ensure that the PCT is able
to realise its aspirations to move location and restructure its
Information Management and Technology services that are critical
for delivering effective primary care services within the National
Health Service.
