STONEGHOST - developing secure system architecture
VEGA has developed secure system architecture to enable the UK
MOD to share ‘Top Secret’ intelligence with its allies in the USA,
Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Challenge
The UK MOD identified a need for a ‘Top
Secret’ system to facilitate the sharing of information in a secure
environment among authenticated users and to enable secure
information exchange mechanisms.
How VEGA Helped
VEGA initially provided the system design lead
and was responsible for all security aspects of the design. It
built the technical demonstrator, successfully implementing the
proposed secure architecture design, along with associated
networking and communications elements. We also successfully
delivered a proven, functioning secure architecture design which
provided international interoperability. As a result, VEGA was
asked to implement the operational technical re-engineered system
for the customer following a full competition.
Value Delivered
VEGA successfully implemented the system on
time and to budget. As the system is based on COTS technologies for
both software and hardware components, it has allowed the UK MOD
customer to take full advantage of established technologies and
standards, providing a more cost-effective and low risk solution
than potentially could be delivered through bespoke development.
The system is now deployed supporting ongoing operations.
