NITEworks
VEGA worked under the defence suppliers’ consortium NITEworks
to support the UK MOD successfully deliver Network Enabled
Capability.
Challenge
NITEworks is the joint UK MOD / Industry partnership formed to
enable the growth and effective deployment of Network Enabled
Capability (NEC) across the UK's frontline capability. The
consortium needed to develop a Key Systems Advisor (KSA) service
that would provide independent expert advice and support in the
execution of Defence Enterprise Planning to support the NEC Senior
Responsible Owner (SRO) (DCDS(EC)) in the delivery and through-life
management of NEC.
How VEGA helped
VEGA was asked to lead and programme-manage the work. The
role included the review and validation of some precursor work and
User Requirement Document, and conducting multiple stakeholder
interviews and workshops (from Assistant Director to 3* levels in
the MOD, and at director/board level in industry).
We also led the development of a concept of operations, an
amended NITEworks delivery model, the recruitment of the KSA
leader, and definition of staff roles. In addition, work
helped develop the Service Specification, Statement of Work
and Contract, and to recruit KSA staff.
Value delivered
The service provided by VEGA is intended to help the MOD get fit
to deliver NEC, and will focus on optimising governance, developing
an enterprise approach to planning, and improving business and
technical integration; the outcome being to ensure there is linkage
between vision, strategy, plans and implementation across the whole
NEC enterprise – from Front Line Commands through the MOD Head
Office to DE&S, and reaching back into industry.
