MOD Networks Team – Stakeholder Engagement and Communications

VEGA undertook the Stakeholder Engagement and Communications to support a key cryptography programme that was highly political, touching many areas of the UK Ministry of through to the most senior levels of Government Treasury.

The Challenge

Stakeholder engagement was not being carried out effectively or monitored. This had become an issue and been highlighted by the auditors as a major concern that needed to be addressed, if the programme was to be granted approval to proceed. Without the necessary buy-in, the programme would fail.

How VEGA helped

VEGA quickly delivered a robust Stakeholder Engagement Plan and created an entire toolkit for the Programme Team to use to carry out engagement with stakeholders. The package was viewed as both creative and innovative by the team and stakeholder. For the first time, the team had plain English and focused material with clear messages that held one version of the truth for consistency.

VEGA also introduced innovative ways of monitoring engagement progress and reporting this to sponsor level. All levels of the team can use the approach and it was entirely tailored to this client’s needs. For the first time, the team worked with usable engagement tools and saw the value of true stakeholder engagement.

• The MOD stakeholders saw VEGA enhance their communications techniques, taking them to another level
• Turned complex messages into simple ones that were easily understood
• Used a package of communications to create synergy that was viewed as unique to the programme
• Provided best practice for other teams, and transferred the skills to carry on effective engagement once the assignment was complete
• The Programme Team effectively managed over 300 stakeholders and gained Main Gate Approval – something that would not have been done without VEGA’s support
