Surrey County Council – CoCo compliance
Building upon its expertise and experience of secure government
networks, Vega conducted an in-depth technology review for Surrey
County Council in accordance with GCSX Code of Connection (CoCo)
compliance.
Challenge
In line with central government requirements regarding GCSX Code of Connection (CoCo) compliance, Surrey
County Council required a review of its existing infrastructure,
and to produce specifications for GCSX-compliant wireless LAN and
remote working solutions.
How Vega helped
The experience Vega gained by supporting the rollout of the
Government Connect programme, along with
its expertise in CESG policy, meant the company was well placed to
carry out this work. Vega advised on suitable upgrades to the
existing wireless networking equipment and associated configuration
that would ensure appropriate levels of confidentiality were
maintained. Vega also carried out a full review of replacement
mobile working solutions that would be compliant with CESG policy
and guidance. With a new version of the CoCo recently released,
Vega also produced a forward looking report on the Council’s likely
future compliance issues.
Value delivered
As a result of recommendations made by Vega, Surrey County
Council was able to procure new wireless networking and mobile
working equipment, safe in the knowledge that it could be set up
and configured in full compliance with CESG policy, ensuring
continued CoCo compliance for the future.
