Crown Prosecution Service – Stakeholder Engagement

VEGA undertook a stakeholder engagement project for the Crown Prosecution Service in support of a benchmarking exercise which involved working with senior stakeholders across UK government departments and criminal justice agencies.

The Challenge

In support of its strategic change agenda, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) wanted to secure a firm evidence base on which to further improve relations with stakeholders to deliver better criminal justice outcomes.. VEGA Consulting Services was tasked with undertaking a survey of a wide range of stakeholders to understand the issues that affect the relationship between the CPS and its key stakeholders.

How VEGA helped

VEGA was appointed to conduct more than 40 in-depth interviews at very senior levels within the Attorney Generals’ Office, Home Office, Ministry of Justice, Police, Judiciary and legal profession. There was a relatively short period of time available to design and deliver the project, with its primary requirement being to gather hard and fast evidence of senior stakeholders and then understand the complexities of the relationships and attitudes uncovered.

The process of reviewing the findings involved several workshops that enabled internal teams to assess the results. This subsequently helped generate the appropriate action plans which identified how the work could be implemented and supported by the CPS teams.

Value delivered

A final report produced by VEGA was submitted to the Executive Team, which detailed findings and identified opportunities to build upon existing relationships with organisations that are critical to enabling the CPS to deliver its strategic objectives, and the objectives of the criminal justice system as a whole. The work was completed on time, within budget and fulfilled the client’s quality expectations.
