Sharing reliable and relevant information securely is a key enabler to the delivery of citizen-centric public services and an improved homeland security and resilience capability.

Despite the spate of high profile incidents of data losses over the past year, the demand for faster, more accurate information sharing is only going to increase.

The UK’s Transformational Government agenda is reliant on traditionally portioned government departments sharing citizen information to provide a joined-up service that empowers those at the front line to deliver an improved, more personal, service.

The ability to share information when and where needed lies at the heart of the UK Government’s National Security Strategy. It rightly identifies the variety of threats now facing the UK and highlights the need for the increasingly complex matrix of departments and agencies responsible for the Security & Resilience to share information and intelligence. In 2009 this strategy was embellished with the publication of the UK’s first Cyber Security Strategy. The strategy establishes the need to reduce risk, exploit opportunities, and improve knowledge, capability and decision making through the secure exchange of information.
