Learn more about VEGA's CESG (CHECK) IT Health Check ServicesVEGA is a registered CHECK service provider. CHECK is the UK Government accredited IT Health Check Service. The UK's National Technical Authority for Information Assurance (CESG) has traditionally provided IT health check services for HMG and the wider public sector of systems handling protectively marked information. Demand for these services has grown. Therefore, in line with similar CESG initiatives, a special partnership with industry is the most appropriate way of meeting this demand. Companies belonging to CHECK are measured against high standards set by CESG. Therefore, Government and Critical National Infrastructure customers can be assured that VEGA can provide a high quality CESG (CHECK) IT Health Check Service as the work is carried out under the Terms & Conditions of CHECK.

 

CLAS

The Scheme aims to satisfy the increased demand for authoritative Information Assurance advice and guidance. CLAS creates a pool of high quality consultants approved by CESG to provide Information Assurance advice to government departments and other organisations who provide vital services for the United Kingdom. VEGA's CLAS consultants are approved to provide Information Assurance advice on systems processing which is protectively marked information up to, and including, SECRET.

 

Information Security Management Policy

ISO/IEC 27001:2005 Information Security Management Systems

 

VEGA has created this policy to meet the following aims:

 

  • Individual Protection: The policies serve to protect employees, through greater awareness and by offering guidance. When sending emails or posting newsgroup comments the laws relating to defamation, intellectual property rights (including copyright), confidentiality and discrimination apply in the same way as they do to more traditional forms of communication.
  • Group Protection: The Group must protect itself from a potentially unlawful material circulated by employees. The Group’s disclaimer ensures that postings or emails made in a private capacity cannot be construed as an official Group position.
  • Security: To safeguard the Group’s market position, and protect against the theft of intellectual property and other confidential information.
  • Corporate Systems Protection: To protect the investment in our IT systems (e.g. against the risk of a computer virus or ‘hackers’).
  • Increased Quality of IT Service: To increase the quality of IT services to all staff. Its systems and Internet performance can be significantly affected by non-business related activities.

 

This Information Security Policy applies to all Group employees, contractors and, where applicable, visitors to Group sites. The awareness of this policy and associated documentation is conducted through the induction and training process.

 

VEGA ensures confidentiality of identified data assets ensuring availability to authorised personnel. Integrity is maintained ensuring its major assets of people, reputation and relationships with other stakeholders is maintained.

 

VEGA also recognises that the security of its staff, infrastructure and information is of paramount importance in meeting its business, legal and regulatory obligations.

 

VEGA is committed to ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all information in its possession. The purpose, aims and content of this Information Security Policy are wholly endorsed and supported by Executive Management.

 

Quality Management System

BS EN ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems

 

This statement sets out the Quality policy of VEGA Consulting Services Ltd. The purpose of the Quality policy statement and Management System is to ensure that products and services provided to our Clients meet or exceed defined or implied requirements.

 

VEGA aspires to differentiate itself through the Quality and value of our Client relationships by improving participation and performance indicators of Client satisfaction; and to be an exciting, successful and reliable company with which to be involved. This shall be evidenced by increased turnover, sustained profitable growth, wider internal opportunities for personal improvement, development of technological innovations and continued repeatability of Quality and technological innovation in our solutions.

 

VEGA will achieve these standards in a cost-effective way by improving internal process efficiency, feedback and involvement of staff with the integrated management system; and by providing the tools required to ensure better decision-making in the delivery of our core competences of consulting and technology.

 

VEGA will seek ways to improve through continual improvement, further certification to international and industrial standards, and increasing staff involvement in and ownership of the management system.

 

Environmental Management System

BS EN ISO 14001: 2004 Environmental Management Systems

 

This statement sets out the Environmental Policy of VEGA Consulting Services (hereafter VEGA) and all its subsidiary companies.

 

The purpose of this policy is to foster a positive attitude to the environment, and raise awareness of good environmental practices and to commit to the continual improvement and performance of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and to prevent, where possible, the risks of pollution.

 

This policy and referenced procedures includes consideration and compliance with any legal or other requirements related to our environmental aspects.

 

This policy is tailored primarily to the environmental aspects of VEGA. Activities, objectives and targets are published annually and are monitored through the meetings and minutes of the EMS Steering Committee (EMSSC).

 

Plans and procedures for establishing environmental objectives and targets, reviewing and measuring progress, are documented in the EMS.

 

Annually the environmental performance of VEGA and its subsidiary companies is reviewed.

 

The review includes a comparison of the preceding year and the collation and approval of the company’s Environmental objectives for the forthcoming year. These objectives and targets are communicated to staff within the EMS.

 

In order to stay informed of the latest environmental initiatives the company will maintain links with all relevant environmental bodies.

 

This Environmental Policy Statement is reviewed annually by Senior Management to ensure that it continues to fully reflect VEGA's commitment to the preservation and improvement of the environment. The communication of this statement and related processes are provided through induction and on-going training and awareness campaigns.

 

The following Environmental objectives have been established to contribute to the achievement of our business strategy and are measurable through process improvement, project management, product acceptance, and compliance.

 

  • Energy consumption reduction in Carbon Emissions
    • Reduce CO2 emissions by optimising the use of Gas/Electricity (annual kWh per m2) and travel
    • Production of annual office Environmental reports, produce recommendations for Energy reduction/control initiatives, monitor High energy users, locations in the offices
    • Control and maintenance of systems containing Ozone depleting substances Air conditioning, fire protection etc
  • Waste Management
    • Reduce amount of waste to landfill through the encouragement of further recycling
    • Promote sustainable purchasing, produce purchasing policy
    • Develop process for Reducing, Reusing and Recycling of waste
    • Control Hazardous waste transfer
  • Maintain and improve awareness campaigns
    • Develop and promote energy day
    • Encourage Management reviews, Staff suggestions etc
  • Roll-out BS EN ISO 14001 certification at other sites with agreement from EMSSC

British Standards Institution’s (BSi) Associate Consultant Programme

British Standads Agency - Associate Consultant Programme

VEGA is a member of the British Standards Institution’s (BSi) Associate Consultant Programme (ACP). The ACP has been established to provide a list of consultancy companies with proven capability, that the BSi can recommend to prospective customers. As a programme member, VEGA can provide independent advice in the areas of information security, programme and project management, and business continuity management relating to the BSi standards ISO/IEC 27001 and BS 25999.
