Secure Solution Designer (SSD) [J1881]
The successful candidate will be responsible for devising
technical solutions to a range of different business requirements
and customers. These solutions will remain the responsibility of
the SSD who will carry accountability for the capability that they
have designed and be ultimately responsible.
The role requires a broad technical understanding, with
particular focus on system infrastructures for complex and
classified environments. The SSD is required to be able to
effectively communicate the solutions to both business users and
system engineers.
Responsibilities / Duties
- Prepare and propose technical solutions that
represent innovation, best-of breed solutions
- Act as System Design Authority for systems,
managing capability change and technical evolution
- Take accountability for the technical
solution and how it meets business requirements
- Communicate the technical solution and
provide robust defense of technology-selection and design, where
required
- Support sales engagements,
understanding client-requirements and translating these into
technology solutions
Qualifications / Experience
Preferably a graduate in ICT, software systems
engineering or similar. Post graduate degree in Information
Security or similar would be an advantage. Experience in secure
system design and architectures would also be an advantage.
Essential Skills
- Experience of designing secure solutions or services for HMG
and private sector

- Able to explain complex solutions in simple terms and quickly
gain client credibility of design ability
- Familiarity with HMG InfoSec standards and policies
- Experience designing systems at IL5 and above
- Knowledge of Virtualisation, Windows, Linux, Enterprise
solutions, Messaging, LDAP, Firewalls, Content-Scanners, Forensic
Tools, Internet technologies, storage, SIEM, Malware,
attack-vectors, Common Criteria, CAPS.
Qualities
Must demonstrate both team
leading and team working capability. Must show self-starting and
complete finishing qualities.
